Self-Examination

Coming into this class at the beginning of this semester, I was very nervous. I didn't know what I was expected to know, and what we were going to learn. I came into this class because my sister took this class her junior year, and really enjoyed it. The only experience I have had in this area would be just taking some posed pictures of people with my Mom's camera. I would never worry about changing the different settings like I do now, I would just let the camera decide for me.

I have felt like I've grown throughout this semester greatly, by learning different techniques and tips that have improve the quality of my pictures. One of my weaknesses is taking action shots, because I have trouble getting rid of blur. One of my strengths is taking up close pictures, because I like getting the subject to fill the frame and having it in critical focus.

I hope to continue to improve in this class next semester. I want to take the Canon Camera test, and pass so that I can work with a higher quality camera. I have really enjoyed this class, because taking pictures is a fun hobby.

I did this cutout of my shoe because it was in really good focus, so I thought it would look nice as a cutout.

Out of Class Photos

I picked these ten photos that I took outside of class because I think they demonstrate my picture taking abilities that I have learned this year.

Sports Photos

I picked these sports photos because I thought they were good candid shots of the boys wrestling practice. I tried to get pictures from different angles and positions around the room.

Famous Photos

My group had the famous photographer, Eliot Porter. He was known for his colorful nature shots. I believe theses photos are good remakes of some of his original shots.

Academics Photos

I chose these pictures because they are candid shots of students at school. Three of the four are of the advanced P.E. class playing basketball and the other is a student working on geometry homework.

Composition Photos

I picked these pictures because they demonstrate the different Principles of Composition that we discussed in class. Some in these pictures are: critical focus, rule of thirds, patterns, and texture.

Lighting Photos

I chose these pictures because I thought they demonstrated different lighting techniques that we learned in class. I especially like the bottom two, because I tried to be creative with lighting in the background.
